The 2025 Land Art Season of The Archaeological Site Park of Caoxieshan recently kicked off and will last till Mar 1, 2026.
Themed “Woven Luminance of Winter”, the event features a number of artistic installations that visitors can touch, interact with and even co-create.
Artist Kang Junyan’s straw mat maze is built around a tree, with its paths embedded with cultural imprints from three ancient periods.
Another highlight, created by a Canadian artist, translates ancient symbols from local relics into striking orange swings that seem to breathe life into history as they sway.

Another installation by Kang frames the sky and the land as a giant loom, with metal verses from the Book of Songs chiming in the breeze.
Zhang Tianyu’s work consists of three luminous “granaries” that present amazing visual effects with light, color and reflections.

Under the co-creation initiative led by the artist Qiu Tao, the public has been invited to contribute personal items like old bowls, toys or lamps for the creation of a “contemporary stratum” and a collective “time capsule” for the future.
