A delegation from the National Robotics Programme (NRP) of Singapore and the Advanced Manufacturing Department of Enterprise Singapore met with officials from SIP’s authorities in charge of industrial development and representatives from a number of enterprises, research institutes and other organizations in SIP on Aug 14, with the hope of joining efforts to create a new ecosystem for development of embodied artificial intelligence (EAI).
As the national platform for robotics in Singapore, the NRP is dedicated to directing robotics and embodied AI R&D funding and bridging the gap between research and market demand.
The aim of the Singaporean delegation’s visit to SIP was to explore ways of setting up platforms for Chinese and Singaporean enterprises to make two-way investments and collaborate in innovation.
During the meeting, Suzhou Robot Industry Association shared its analysis of the EAI industry’s development trends in China and worldwide. China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Group Co Ltd (CSSD), a Sino-Singaporean joint venture in SIP, gave the participants an introduction to the construction and future visions of an EAI-focused industry park and an EAI application incubation center in SIP.
The representative from the NRP gave the participants an introduction to the NRP and the development of robotics industry in Singapore.
In the interaction session, the participants from China Electronics Standardization Institute (East China), Suzhou Robot Industry Association, the School of Advanced Technology at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and several tech companies in SIP presented their organizations’ capabilities of developing cutting-edge technologies and strengths, and discussed with the guests from Singapore potentials of cooperating in standard setting, application scenario development, data collection, industry-university-research cooperation and other fields.
It is learned that the Singaporean delegation also conducted a field survey tour to a number of representative enterprises in SIP’s robotics industry chain.
