Recently, the elderly in Jiuling (Shengpu) Nursing Home in SIP’s Shengpu Sub-district were treated to a list of wonderful performances.

The event started with a lianxiang performance where ladies wearing traditional local costumes danced with sticks in hands, a form of performing art recognized as intangible culture heritage.

After that, classic pieces of Shanghai opera and Wuxi opera were performed, and a team of elderly people from the nursing home demonstrated a set of fitness exercises. Then a singing and dancing performance integrating modern musical instruments and traditional tunes was staged, wining warm applause from the audiences.
