The Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art (Suzhou MoCA), a newly completed cultural landmark in SIP, was declared one of Suzhou’s top 10 people’s well-being projects of county-level cities (districts) on Jan 12.

The Suzhou MoCA and other nine projects stood out among 32 candidate projects determined by Suzhou Municipal People’s Congress by voting in early 2025 for their remarkable progress over the past year.

Located on the right bank of Jinji Lake, the Suzhou MoCA is designed by Danish architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). It aims to become a world-class artistic venue featuring academic depth, local characteristics and an international perspective.

Completed last August, the museum boasts a garden-like design. With nine standalone pavilions connected through a ribbon-like corridor, it integrates multiple functions for exhibitions, public education, performances and business.

It is worth mentioning that a variety of events, such as the “Space Productivity” series aimed at “bringing contemporary art creation concepts and methods to every corner in the city of Suzhou” and the “Right Bank Lectures” for public education, were held while the museum was being built, drawing increasing public attention to the project.
