China’s Public Opinion Field, a programme broadcast on CCTV International (CCTV-4) of China Central Television, turned its lens towards the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Suzhou Area (Suzhou FTZ) in SIP this time. The episode broadcast on Dec 21 shows the 60.15-square-kilometer FTZ’s journey of innovative development.

The special feature starts with a case at the local comprehensive service center for biomedical industry, where a man from a pharmaceutical company comes to seek help for importing medical solutions that are not available in domestic market for its R&D.
A solution soon came out under the Yanyida mode which, designed to lift restrictions for enterprises to import from overseas medical devices, medicine, reagents and chemical raw materials that are not registered in the country for use in R&D activities, marks one of 32 institutional innovations carried out in the FTZ for enterprises in the biomedical sector.

Other focuses in this episode include the Suzhou Freight Station of Shanghai Airports which provides a set of services for cargoes from SIP and the surrounding areas to go through security and customs inspections before being exported through airports in Shanghai, the Suzhou International Commercial Tribunal, the country’s first international commercial court established in a local court, and the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Suzhou Area Public Legal Service Center, which provides one-stop legal services for businesses.

Statistics show that, from 2019 to 2025, the Suzhou FTZ has pulled off 14 institutional innovation achievements that are duplicated nationwide, and 63 applied across Jiangsu province.
