Recently, a breakthrough project in the field of assisted reproduction, submitted by SIP-based Yikon Genomics (Suzhou) Co Ltd’s subsidiary in Spain in collaboration with the University of Barcelona and Europe’s leading reproductive medicine center Instituto Bernabéu, has been selected as a “Public-Private Partnership Strategic R&D Project” by the Spanish State Research Agency (Agencia Estatal de Investigación, or AEI). This is the first time a Chinese enterprise has led a project of such kind.
The project, focusing on a novel non-invasive preimplantation genetic testing technology, is designed to achieve non-invasive, precise embryo health assessment by analyzing genomic DNA in extracellular vesicles from embryo culture media, thereby helping increase the live birth rate of IVF babies.
