SIP, widely known for its robust economic growth and open innovation, is making a series of far-sighted arrangements to make sports another source of its vitality.
The newly opened Sungent International Tennis Center and Yangchenghu Peninsula Football Park in Yangchenghu Peninsula Tourist Resort epitomize SIP’s efforts to build high-standard sports venues.
The tennis center offers 11 international-standard courts—nine hard courts and two clay courts—suiting both professional players and casual enthusiasts, while the football park boasts five waterside natural grass football fields that meet the highest domestic standards, each achieving a FIFA quality score of over 90.
High-standard venues attract highly reputable events. The Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race, Suzhou Jinji Lake Half Marathon and Lake Cup Regatta are held on and around Jinji Lake on a yearly basis, and the “2034 Cup” Primary School Students’ Football Games (U12), China Pump Track Series and a number of other sports events are gaining increasing popularity in SIP.
Therefore, SIP has enhanced efforts to increase and improve local sports spots and facilities with the aim of giving the participants a better experience. Water sports projects have been developed along rivers and lakes, making the sports like canoeing and paddleboarding more popular among locals.
Moreover, sports have been integrated with other economic activities such as night markets, represented by the parallel events of the ongoing 2025 Jiangsu Football City League, and tourism, such as the events blending sports with food, sightseeing and recreation that are often seen in Yangchenghu Peninsula Tourist Resort.
