Botree Recycling Technologies, a company specializing in battery materials recycling in SIP, recently closed its Series B financing round, amounting the cumulative investment in it to more than RMB100 million. The new fund, plus the outcomes of its five-year R&D, will allow the company to quicken its pace to transform more waste battery materials into those of value.
Founded in Beijing in 2019, Botree has taken deep root in SIP since 2020. It provides end-to-end solutions for recovering critical battery materials, covering everything from pre-processing to metal extraction, purification and materials regeneration.
Botree’s novel extraction process simultaneously recovers nickel, cobalt and manganese for battery-grade materials. The company claims the method cuts equipment costs by more than 30% and reduces energy use by over 10% compared to conventional processes.
The company is enhancing efforts to expand its presence in overseas markets. In January, it announced a partnership with Ilunion and EFT-System in Spain to set up a joint venture and build a plant capable of recycling 6,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate batteries annually.
So far, the company’s services have reached over 10 Fortune Global 500 companies, and carried out over 60 projects.
