The 2025 LCR featured professional keelboat races in J80, DC20 and FT7.5 classes, alongside public competitions for recreation. During the event, Suzhou experienced a dramatic temperature drop, yet the unpredictable weather only added to the excitement.

On the first day, the clear skies and gentle breezes allowed the sailors to gradually familiarize themselves with the waters. On the second and third days, wind speeds intensified, with averages reaching 10 knots and gusts peaking at 16 knots. Waves crashed against the hulls, causing many boats to sway vigorously, but the competitors’ morale remained unshaken. On the lake, rivalries grew intense and cheers from the shores blended with the roar of wind and waves.

Eventually, the Mongolian Navy Team claimed victory in the DC20 class, while the More Suzhou Sailing Fans team clinched the title in the FT7.5 class and the Shanghai Dianshan Lakers garnered the championship in the J80 class. Based on comprehensive handicap scoring, the Shanghai Dianshan Lakers also topped the open category.

“We’re a regular to the LCR, and we know Jinji Lake’s winds and waters very well,” said Zhu Wei, captain of Shanghai Dianshan Lakers. “We train together every month to refine our tactics. I hope we will return next year!”

The public competitions, designed to popularize water sports, were open to all including beginners. Many families and young people participated, speaking highly of the creative design of the event and the unique experience it gave.
